ALERT WINTERGREEN is a mass notification service that gives Wintergreen’s public safety professionals and administrators an extraordinary ability to reach you with vital information. This could be life-saving information in the event of an extreme or unusual situation.
The system has you enter all your contact information and then subscribe only to types of notifications you care about. The system's database allow Wintergreen to send out notices based on the situation (including extreme situations as well as minor issues) depending upon each user's self-identified location and interests.
You will receive time-sensitive messages wherever you specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, email address, text messages and more. You pick where, you pick how.
More than just a simple text, call or email
When a notification about a potential safety hazard or concern is sent, users receive a message on all the devices methods they have registered, one at a time–cellphone, SMS text message, email, landline. Users confirming they have received the first message ends the subsequent contact methods. For example, an alert going first as a text to a cellphone requires a text back to confirm receipt.
If the alert message is not confirmed as received, the ALERT WINTERGREEN system will continue to attempt to reach out to all of the contact paths you registered, in the priority order you selected.
A missed text message may, for example, get a phone call. If there is no confirming message, then an email seeking a reply, then finally a call to the last device, perhaps a landline. (Voice alert messages are left on answer machines.)

Frequently Asked Questions
When will it be used?
The ALERT WINTERGREEN system will be used to notify those registered about imminent threats in the area to health and safety as well as informational notifications, depending on interests users select in the system. Administrators within the Wintergreen Property Owners Association (fire, police, rescue, highway, etc.) can quickly send notifications regarding risks to public safety, such as severe weather, flooding, gas leaks, police activity, etc.
Will I still get emergency notifications if I don't sign up?
It is much less likely. If you don't create a username and password within ALERT WINTERGREEN'S system, you might receive notifications only by the news media or your neighbors.
What if my phone number or email address changes?
Our system is only as good as the information the users provide, but this system makes it easy to edit your information. If your contact information changes, visit your profile online HERE and update your information, or call the Wintergreen Property Owners Association at 434-325-8552.
Will my contact information be shared with others?
No. The information provided for the ALERT WINTERGREEN program will be used only for Wintergreen Property Owners Association.
