Structure Fire on Devil's Knob
January 25, 2015 - At approximately 3:30PM on January 25 Wintergreen Fire Department was dispatched for a report of smoke coming from a structure on Devil's Knob.
As soon as responders passed by the Mountain Inn a column of heavy black smoke was visible. Upon arrival crews found a two-story unoccupied structure with heavy fire. The roof was starting to collapse prior to arrival of the first fire apparatus.
The structure was a total loss. There were no injuries. The blaze was under control after approximately 60 minutes, with an additional 2 hours needed for salvage and overhaul. There was no damage to neighboring structures.
All totaled 39 personnel reported to this fire, of which 22 were from Wintergreen
