Devils Bend House Fire

Wintergreen Fire and Wintergreen Rescue were dispatched for a structure fire with smoke and flames showing.  Units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and flames from the chimney chase.  At the time of arrival all occupants were out of the structure and accounted for.  Crews initially attacked the fire from the exterior until additional units arrived on scene.  Personnel entered the structure and were able to keep the fire contained to the chimney and fire place area.  Units on scene were Engine 1, Truck 1, Squad 1, Medic 175, Medic 179, Response 9, Tanker 2, Chief Sheets, Captain Eastep, and Chief Riddle. Other departments on scene were Wilson Fire Department, Wintergreen Police, Nelson Service Authority, and Central Virginia Electric Cooperative.  Rockfish Fire Department filled quarters at Wintergreen Station 2 during the event.
