Structure Fire - Wintergreen Mountain
At 5:03PM we were contacted by Augusta County. They received a 911 call from a home in the Mountain Community of Wintergreen. The callers were reporting their home to be fully involved with fire. This triggered an "all-call" scenario for off-duty staff, volunteers, and mutual-aid companies.
Lt. Brown was first on scene with Engine 61. He discovered a "room and contents" fire on the ground floor of a 2-story home. Crews were able to confine the fire to the rear half of the first floor. There were no injuries reported on scene of the incident. The fire is still under investigation.
Lovingston Fire Department immediately filled quarters in our Stoney Creek station and Piney River Fire Department filled quarters at our mountain station. Our mutual-aid partners are essential to our coverage model and they always come through.
Worthy of note, today four (soon to be graduates) of our fire academy showed up ready to work.
