Ravens Roost Ln - Structure Fire
Wintergreen Fire Department was dispatched to a home in the Ravens Roost section of the Wintergreen mountain community for a smoke investigation. The 911 call was transferred to Wintergreen Dispatch by Augusta County Emergency Communications Center.
Upon arrival, crews found light smoke coming from the exterior and heavy interior smoke. The fire was located in the space between the basement and first floor, as well as in the plumbing chases.
The home sustained moderate damage. There were no civilian injuries. One firefighter sustained minor injuries during the interior attack. Suppression efforts lasted approximately 2 hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire may have been caused by a lightning strike. This was the fourth working structure fire at Wintergreen since January 1.
There were 14 personnel on scene from Wintergreen Fire & Rescue, 3 from Piney River Fire Department, one from Rockfish Valley Fire Department, and one from Lovingston Fire Department. The Wintergreen Police Department assisted with 2 units.
