House Fire - Nellysford
Wintergreen Fire Department was dispatched for a house that was “fully engulfed” in flames. When crews arrived on scene the house was in fact fully involved on the entire back side of the house and parts of the attic space. An aggressive fire attack was underway using the Blitz Fire on the “B” Side of the structure and hand lines in the front door. There were many areas of fire that were hard to access but eventually the fire was brought under control. The fire did rekindle later in the night where crews had to return to extinguish fire in the attic area. No injuries were reported, however one firefighter did have heat exhaustion issues. Units on scene were Tanker 62, Engine 62, Truck 61, Captain 65, Chief 62, Wintergreen PD, Rockfish Fire Department, Rescue 56, Faber Fire, Lovingston Fire, and Piney River Fire. Thank you to Wilson Fire Department for covering calls at Station 1 as well as Waynesboro First Aid Crew for answering a medical call during this event.
